ImageDr Ian Crump
Ian is the owner of Avenue Dental, having purchased the practice from Richard in 2005. In their vision for excellence, he, and his wife Kathryn, have expanded the practice into a state-of-the art facility in lieu of their own short-term needs.

Ian has led an interesting life, having pursued many short-term careers in his early twenties. He holds a pilot’s licence, has driven a taxi, and was even a professional musician before he settled down to study dentistry in his mid twenties. After many years of nursing, science and dentistry, Ian graduated in 1999 and moved to Charleville in Western Queensland. In Charleville, Ian had one of the largest dental practices (by area) in the world. He spent countless hours travelling around the “bush” providing dental care for everyone between Roma, Longreach and the borders of Queensland. Having turned down many opportunities of employment elsewhere, Ian met Richard in Caloundra expecting “just another dentist,” yet was astounded by the care, staff and vision at Avenue Dental. Consequently, Ian moved to Caloundra in 2003.

Ian is passionate about dentistry. He is amazed that people can not see how “working in someone’s mouth” can be so fascinating and rewarding. He is fascinated by the technological advances in dentistry and is extremely excited about Cerec®; the computer aided design and placement of ceramic restorations.

Ian is firmly entrenched on the Sunshine Coast and is currently the President of the Sunshine Coast Branch of the Australian Dental Association. He is also an active member if the Australian Society of Computerised Dentistry. He firmly believes that dentistry is a dynamic profession and actively pursues and promotes further dental education. Accordingly, he has constructed a conference and training facility within the practice to aid in dentist and dental assistant training to the highest level.

ImageDr Stephen Dudgeon
After six years of studying Science and Dentistry, Stephen graduated Dentistry at the University of Queensland with first class honours.  He has worked for Queensland Health in Rockhampton and Maryborough but was lured to the lifestyle of Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast.  Stephen joined Avenue Dental in 2005.

Stephen is strongly committed to continuing education and helped establish a study club in 2006, of which he is vice-president.  He attends numerous continuing education courses. His particular interests in dentistry are crown and bridgework, implants, endodontics and aesthetic dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Stephen is interested in weights training and generally staying fit.  He has just taken up surfing as he thought he couldn’t live on the coast and not surf.  He enjoys all sports, especially rugby and cricket, as well as socialising with friends and relaxing at the beach or movies.

ImageDr Richard Bell
Richard obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from London University in 1969. Within a year he travelled to South Africa, married and lived and practiced in the Cape for 7 years. After moving to Australia in 1977 he settled with his family in Victoria, working as a partner with the Belmont Dental Group in Geelong. In 1990 he made the move to Caloundra, taking over the long established practice of Baldwin and Perkins. He is interested in all areas of dentistry and is an avid attendee at continuing education courses and workshops.
His sports include wave skiing, swimming [ necessary because of a tendency to be frequently parted from his wave ski ], and his interests include watching anything where other people are getting exited about a ball; following contemporary issues of all sorts [don’t get him started on ‘Global Warming’!], movies, books, and the occasional bottle of wine.
