What is a Hygienist?
A hygienist is a University trained professional who works with your dentist to help treat and prevent periodontal (gum and bone) disease, and prevent tooth decay.

What does a Hygienist do?
They keep the gum and bone that hold your teeth in place healthy with regular removal of the tartar (calculus), which accumulates around your teeth. They will also monitor and advise you on the best ways to care for your teeth at home. This involves how to effectively remove plaque which collects on your teeth and leads to tooth decay and gum and bone disease.
