Avenue Dental uses Dental Laser Technology at each of our Sunshine Coast practice in Maroochydore.
Book Online Learn moreDental lasers use focused beams of light to remove or reshape tissue during restorative treatments, reducing the need of the drill.
Lasers can be used in dentistry as cited below:
- Cleaning cavities– Lasers can help remove tooth enamel to clean bacteria
- Unique Sweeps technology that sends sound shock waves that removes more bacteria when performing a root canal treatment
- Gum disease – Diseased or infected gum can be treated with minimal effect on the healthy tissue, enhancing healing and bone formation.
- Impacted wisdom teeth – Lasers can help cut away gum tissue to expose the tooth that have only partly erupted or are stuck (impacted) in the gum.
- Sensitive teeth – Dental lasers can help seal tubules in tooth roots to reduce the tooth’s sensitivity to hot and cold food and drinks.
- Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) – Low-level lasers can help reduce pain and inflammation in the joint and surrounding tissues.
- Stained or discoloured teeth – Lasers can assist the gel bleaching agent to speed up the whitening process, saving your time. Whitening becomes much faster with fewer teeth side effects, and reduced sensitivity if any.
- Gummy smile – If you want to alter the appearance of your smile, your dentist may recommend using laser treatment to help reshape your gum line and remove excess gum/bone tissue to show more of your teeth.
- Mouth ulcers – If you have a persistent ulcer or herpes lesion in your mouth, lasers may be used to help reduce pain or to remove tissue for a biopsy.
- Facial rejuvenation to promote collagen stimulation and tightening of the skin around face and neck, with little downtime or discomfort.
- Snoring Laser treatment – with no pain or discomfort, Lasers reduce the vibration of the skin in the back of the throat and therefore snoring. It works in similar ways as facial rejuvenation, tightening mouth tissues, such as the soft palate, uvula, tongue and cheeks. The walk in procedure takes 30 minutes a month for 3 months.
