The days of having your mouth filled with dental impression materials and trays are moving on. For most of our laboratory-related dental procedures, we now use the 3Shape TRIOS Intraoral Scanner. It captures a series of intraoral images and compiles them to create a 3D representation of your teeth.

Importantly, it is much more comfortable for the patient than traditional impression materials. Some of the most common issues with taking dental impressions include gagging, claustrophobia, and potential allergies.

This is not only time efficient, but also provides the clinician with information to discuss treatment options with patients, so they can choose what to do. As well, the 3D images provide feedback on the quality of their work and gives the laboratory accurate models with which to design dental devices.
