Dr Hess Kim
Hess immigrated to Australia from South Korea when he was two years old and grew up in Brisbane where he received his Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland. Since then, he has gained experience from various positions in the public sector, private practice in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, and also as a regular volunteer dentist treating refugees and the homeless.
Hess strongly believes in working together with his patients to achieve their desired oral health goals by taking his time to listen and understand their needs.
His primary focus is to always provide dental treatment in a gentle and caring manner. Being a former dental phobic patient himself, he understands what dental treatment can be like and strives to make each patient as comfortable and relaxed as possible. The day is most rewarding for Hess when his patients leave his clinic with a big smile.
Dentistry is a passion for Hess. Not only does he enjoy providing happy and healthy smiles, he loves the fusion of biology and micro-engineering. He likes to incorporate the latest technology, such as cosmetic digital smile design (for digital previews of smile makeovers) and 3D scanning/printing for same-day crowns. Also, Hess enjoys providing orthodontic treatment (braces) to patients of all ages and uses software that reduces guess work and can save time and money for his patients.
Hess and his partner, Julianna, have completely fallen for life on the coast. The king of his household is his cat, Nemo, and the clown is his springer spaniel, Wally. When he isn’t in the clinic, Hess loves to go running at Point Cartwright with Wally, practicing his Korean swords martial arts, or watching the tennis with his partner.
