Dr Nicole Rutledge and Dentistry
Dr. Nicole Rutledge, originally from Canada, grew up near Toronto, Ontario before moving to Australia to complete her post-graduate Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Melbourne. Upon graduating from her Masters-level dental training in Victoria, Dr. Nicole made the move to beautiful Queensland to become a part of the wonderful Avenue Dental family.
Her dedication to dentistry and love of learning were recognised when Nicole was awarded the Bertha Bennet Prize and John Illife Scholarship Prize for attaining the overall highest academic achievement during her time at Melbourne Dental School, in addition to becoming a member of the Dean’s Honour List. Dr. Nicole was honoured with the prestigious Pierre Fauchard Academy Dental Student Scholarship, awarded to a recipient who demonstrates potential to become an outstanding leader in their profession. Prior to her dental studies, Nicole completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences at Queen’s University Canada, receiving a four-year full academic scholarship and graduating with Distinction in the top 3% of her class.
Dr. Nicole is passionate about all facets of general dentistry and has a special interest in oral health education, cosmetic dentistry, and oral surgery. She is committed to ongoing learning and professional growth through continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest scientific and clinical developments in order to provide superior oral healthcare.

Nicole understands patients can be apprehensive and nothing brings her more joy than being told she has put someone at ease for the first time in the dental chair.
Dr. Nicole takes the time to truly listen to her patients’ concerns and to effectively communicate, whether it be educating them about the impact of oral health on their overall well-being or explaining complex treatment options. Nicole provides comprehensive treatment addressing unique needs and individualizing care for her patients, young and old. She ensures each and every patient feels taken care of and understands each of their available options so they feel empowered to make informed decisions regarding their dental care.
When Dr. Nicole thinks about her values she thinks about the word excellence. She is very detail orientated and strives to always deliver an exceptional dental experience that meets the highest standard of care. Transforming lives through enhancing dental function and aesthetics is what truly drives Nicole. There is no greater satisfaction then reviving someone’s confidence, making them smile, and improving their well-being.
Outside of the clinic, Nicole loves to explore her new home on the Sunshine Coast and relish in the beautiful weather and surroundings. She loves to travel, discover new beaches and cafés, read, ski, do yoga, and cheer on her favourite ice hockey and AFL teams. Now that Dr. Nicole has relocated to chase the sun (and yes, despite being Canadian, she was still cold in Melbourne!), she is ecstatic to be a part of the Avenue Dental team and build long-lasting relationships with her patients and the community. Dr. Nicole wants to say a big thank you to her present and future patients for entrusting her with their care and being a part of Avenue Dental’s happy family of smiling patients!

Commencing work at Avenue Dental this year has been a wonderful experience and though it is difficult to single out my favourite aspect of the workplace culture here, it has been invaluable to become a part of such a collaborative and supportive work environment. Especially as a new graduate, the transition to full–time work can be a daunting one and I have felt extremely supported from the get–go. From my first meeting with Drs Steve Dudgeon, Eli Burger and Chris Fitzpatrick, I knew that I would be joining a workplace in which each individual is truly cared for and valued as a member of the team. Avenue Dental has offered many additional learning opportunities to me this year, including monthly meetings with presentations from experienced clinicians, as well as, exceptional CPD courses with Dr Pat Caldwell and Dr Johann Weemaes. I am extremely grateful for Avenue’s dedication to our growth and providing ongoing support and knowledge to their clinicians. Dr. Chris Fitzpatrick has been an unbelievable mentor to me and unwavering in his support of my growth as a new dentist. He motivates myself and the rest of the staff to be the best version of themselves, personally and professionally, and I am thankful to have such a passionate mentor and person to grow my dental career alongside. The other dentists at Avenue Dental BliBli, Dr Tara Javadi, Dr Rosie Prichett, and Dr Paige Ispen, have been so willing to give a second opinion, go through any of their cases, and even take time out of their busy schedules to lend a helping hand and I could not be more appreciative of their support. I have also been very lucky to work alongside a seasoned DA, Lauren Gibson, who has not only made me feel extremely comfortable in my role as a new dentist, but has even given me some great tips and tricks of the trade. From the leadership, to fellow clinicians, to the support staff, everyone at Avenue Dental is committed to being collaborative team members and I am grateful for all of the support and guidance I have received this year.
