Dr. Tara grew up in Brisbane and upon finishing her high school studies, she attended University of Queensland where she studied Bachelor of Pharmacy, from which she graduated with Dean’s Commendations for High Academic Achievement throughout each academic year.

She undertook her Pharmacy internship in Brisbane where she worked as a compounding Pharmacist and manually made various types of pharmaceuticals in the laboratory. She then realised her love and interest in delicate and aesthetic work which lead her to undertake postgraduate studies in Doctor of Dental Surgery at The University of Melbourne.

She was awarded the James Monahan Lewis Prize for overall highest academic achievement in Clinical Dental Practice at the University of Melbourne. Tara continued working as a part-time Pharmacist while studying Dentistry in order to keep up to date with the current evidence-based medicine. Tara believes having a broad knowledge of pharmaceuticals has proven useful during her career as a Dentist as it allows a more thorough understanding of her patients’ medical conditions and also a holistic approach to their oral health management.

Upon graduating from Doctor of Dental Surgery, Tara worked full-time in private dental practice in Melbourne before making the move to sunny Queensland to join the Avenue Dental family. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association and enjoys attending dental courses and workshops to keep up to date with the latest techniques and advancements to provide her patients with outstanding care.

Tara enjoys practicing all aspects of general dentistry and prides herself on her attention to detail as well as prioritising patients’ comfort and satisfaction in the dental environment. She is well known for her gentle and conservative approach to put even the most anxious patients at ease and has often had some patients doze off during treatment.

In addition to treating adults, Tara enjoys treating children and young adolescents as she is an advocate for prevention of dental disease as well as promotion of a positive dental experience from an early age.

Outside of Dentistry, Tara has an active lifestyle and can be found most days training at the gym, or taking yoga, pilates and dance classes. At other times, she spends her down-time reading books and listening to podcasts.
