Dr Akith Nanayakkara and Dentistry
Akith hails from the small island of Sri Lanka, and from the even smaller capital city of Colombo. Despite the great food and golden beaches, Akith moved to windy Wellington in New Zealand when he was 10 where he went to high school. In 2019, Akith packed his bags and made his way across the Tasman to the Gold Coast to start his Dentistry studies. Since then, Akith has not looked back, obtaining his Bachelor of Dental Health Science with Distinction, and receiving an award of Academic Excellence during his Master of Dentistry.
As Akith did not come from a Dental background, his time in the field has really helped him appreciate the value of good dentistry. Having experiencing dentistry as a patient himself and seeing the impacts of it with his own parents, he is grateful that he now has the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others.
If you had to pick a few traits to describe Akith, hard-working would certainly be one of them. He is well spoken, humorous, and will guarantee you 100% of his efforts to ensure the best possible outcome. With dentistry, this means he has a relentless desire to do his absolute best for his patients.

As with many other things, Akith has great plans to continually develop his knowledge and widen the scope of his practice.
Outside of Dentistry, golf has taken over Akith’s life. While his handicap isn’t anything to brag about, his love for the sport and sunshine made his decision to join the Avenue Dental family in Caloundra an easy one.
Outside of work and golf, Akith also enjoys watching the UFC and NBA which he’s more than happy to strike a conversation about (depending on how his team played the night before).
