About Maya

Maya was born in Yokosuka, Japan, a serene seaside city south of Tokyo, and attended school in the historic town of Kamakura, known for its rich ancient cultural heritage. This upbringing instilled in her a deep appreciation for holistic care and community service. After beginning her dental career in Japan and Singapore. Maya relocated to Australia, where she embraced new opportunities to expand her skills and adapt to a different healthcare environment. In Australia, Maya started by assisting dentists while completing the required university degree to practice as an Oral Health Therapist. This experience not only refined her technical skills and local knowledge, but also deepened her understanding of patient needs across diverse settings.

With Avenue, Maya is known for her calm and approachable demeanour which helps put patients at ease during appointments Maya is passionate about helping her patients achieve better oral health by tailoring her care to suit individual circumstances. Maya loves all aspects of Dentistry, but especially delights in seeing the results of treating gum disease, tooth restoration and how sometimes just a small improvement can make such a big difference to a patient’s happiness. Her dedication to continuous learning ensures that she stays up to date with advancements in dental care. Maya takes pride in seeing the progress her patients make and is committed to fostering long-term improvements in their oral health.

Maya loves living on the Sunshine Coast and enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 daughters, and 2 cats, visiting the local markets, going to the beach, exploring the Sunshine Coast, and catching up with friends old and new.
