The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is Bulk Billed at Avenue Dental at each of its Sunshine Coast and Brisbane dental practices. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule $1000 benefit reset for all eligible children on the 1st of January each year.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule commenced on the 1st of January 2014. Its aim was to provide dental care to approximately 3.4million Australian children aged from 2 to 17 years old. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule covered up to $1000 over a 2 calendar year period for basic dental services such as dental exams, dental x-rays, dental fillings, fissure sealants, extractions, root canals and partial dentures. On the 1st of January 2020 the $1000 Child Dental Benefit reset for all eligible children.
We believe that all Australians deserve access to great dental care. This is especially true for children. We do not believe that a parent should have to chose between helping a child with a dental emergency, such as a toothache or significant pain, and putting food on the table. We therefore applaud the Australian Government for continuing to fund this scheme so that the young of Australia can access great dental care. While this scheme does not include the full range of services that a child might need (such as orthodontics, crowns, cosmetic dentistry or wisdom tooth removal in a hospital) it is a great help to so many and lets us help with preventative and emergency aspects of a child’s dental care.
Bulk Billing
At Avenue Dental on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane we have been bulk billing the treatment for children under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule at our Caloundra, Maroochydore, Kawana, Bli Bli, North Lakes, Baringa, Sippy Downs, Tewantin, Murrumba Downs, Beerwah and Woolloongabba dental practices since 2014.
We have been overwhelmed by the positive response of the community to this government initiative and it has been extremely rewarding to help so many deserving children. In 2020, when the Child Dental Benefits Schedule cap reset, Avenue Dental will again be bulk billing this treatment for all eligible children.

Check Your Eligibility
To be eligible for the reset $1000 cap in 2020 under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule you will need to be eligible for Medicare, receive a Family Tax Benefit Part A or equivalent government payment for at least part of the calendar year and be aged from 2 to 17 years for at least one day of the calendar year.
